2 Adults Dead and 2 Children Injured In Possible Street Racing Crash

PHOENIX, AZ — A possible street racing crash on Interstate 10 has left 2 adults dead and 2 children in critical condition.  The accident took place on February 20th just after midnight.

When troopers arrived on scene, they found 2 adults and 2 children in the vehicle.  Both adults were killed and the 2 children taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The adults killed in the incident have been identified as Jimmy Lee Greenwood of Surprise and Farren Isabel Relerford of El Mirage.  The children have been identified as a 2-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl.

Investigators believe that the vehicle was racing another car eastbound on I-10 near 59th Avenue just before colliding with a barrier wall.  Officials say the other vehicle is a “non-contact” party, meaning it did not come in contact with the crashed vehicle, but may be a factor in how the crash occurred.

Impairment has not been ruled out and the investigation is ongoing.

The AZ Hometown Lawyers sends their condolences to the friends and family Jimmy and Farren.  We also send out best wishes to the children who were injured.

Involved in an Accident?  What Next?

If you or a loved one is ever involved in a car accident, please contact our firm as soon as possible for a free legal consultation. There are two reasons why speaking to an attorney is important for your rights.

Firstly, in Arizona, there is a time limit from the date of the accident in which you have the opportunity to make a legal claim. After this statute of limitations, you cannot file a lawsuit even if you have a valid claim. That means you must speak to an attorney, prepare parts of your case, and file a lawsuit all within a set period of time, so getting started immediately allows enough time to properly make your case.

Secondly, any evidence, injuries, and witness testimonies are important to record as close to the actual incident as possible for accuracy and detail. Photos of the vehicle, location, and injuries will help illustrate the situation clearly, along with fresh memories from all parties involved and witnesses on the scene. Time makes these things harder to find, remember, or prove, so we recommend making an appointment to see our legal team as soon as you are able.
